We are well over three-quarters of the way through 2014. Holiday season is descending upon us…but in the meantime, here are my October 2014 Favorites.
Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – The hype is real. I already like gel liner, and this is a similar type of product but for brows. Despite my usual outlook on super hyped products, I was actually pretty confident that I’d like this product before I even tried it. I actually won this from a contest in a makeup sub I frequent on Reddit and it has seen very regular use. The picture, last week, of my Weekend Trip Makeup? I’ve had Dipbrow for like two months now and that’s ALL I’VE USED . I’m just using angled brushes I already have, but I look forward to trying the #18 brush that was designed with this specific product in mind.
Clarisonic Mia 2 – I have actually had this for a while now and would go as far as to say it has been a favorite since I got it. Given the nature of the product, the hype, the pricetag, I wanted to use it for a long time before mentioning it or offering an assessment (which I will be providing soon).
Sensationail Gel Polish in Midnight Rendezvous – Simple black gel polish. I wore two black gel manicures with glitter gel accent nails during Octobert enjoyed it a lot. Black is a neutral-enough backdrop that you can use pretty much any damn glitter you please for accent nails. Plus, the glitter accent nail kind of takes the edge off of black if you aren’t used to wearing it.
Nivea Body Wash in Sensitive / Chamomile – I haven’t been loyal to one body wash since Caress Japanese Exotic Oil Infusions Body Wash was discontinued. I’ll buy a bottle, use it, but haven’t been wowed enough to rebuy. This is the first one in a while that I have actually enjoyed. I can’t say for sure that I will repurchase at the end (I’m only about 1/4 through the bottle), but so far all is well – if I ran out right now, I would repurchase.
Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks – I’ve already written about the three shades I own, but really, these are very nice matte drugstore lipsticks. Of the colors, Touch of Spice is my favorite-favorite, but Divine Wine is a close, unexpected second. After using them for about a week I knew they would make my October 2014 Favorites.
Ponds Luminous Finish BB+ Cream – I don’t consider this product a true BB cream, but it is a nice tinted moisturizer that does what I am looking for it to do. It evens me out without covering a ton. Even though I am partial to satin finishes when it comes to face stuff, the luminosity of this product is fine for this time of the year both in terms of making me look alive and in terms of being forgiving about skin texture. It made me look alive while I was sick, and it gives me just enough coverage on days where I can’t be bothered to fuss with, “real,” foundation (aka most of them).
