This is a legacy post that has been given a facelift and some 2018 updates! Enjoy.
When it comes to finding products that really work for you, you tend to sift through a lot of BS:
- overpromising, underdelivering products;
- overhyped (by the community) products;
- or things that just, through by no fault of anyone, don’t work for you.
Trying new things can be fun, too, but when you find products that REALLY work for you, you tend to cling to them. I do, anyway. Here are my recent repurchases.
Recent Repurchases
1. Eucerin Daily Replenishing Body Lotion, $10 / 2. Urban Decay All Nighter, $30 or $39 for 2
3. L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara, $8 / 4. Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil, $16
Eucerin Daily Replenishing
I prefer low-scent or unscented body lotions, and although thick creams have their place (foot creams!) I hate feeling greasy. This Daily Replenishing Lotion from Eucerin is unscented – so it doesn’t get on my nerves (I tend to get bored of scented body lotions, even if I liked them when I bought them, before I finish them), doesn’t irritate my husband’s fragrance sensitivities, or clash with the fragrance I’m wearing. It has appeared in my March 2014 Favorites, and my July 2015 Empties (just now replenished because I had some other stuff I wanted to use up before restocking).
2018 Update: Yeah, I still use this. Bought another bottle last month, in fact.
Urban Decay All Nighter
I’m not someone who needs the makeup I applied at 6AM to look fierce until 10PM, but with an oily t-zone, I certainly benefit from the way this sets and seals my makeup. It’s especially great for finishing atop powder products, whether I’m using powder foundation, or if I just set everything with a translucent powder.
2018 Update: Still use this, too. I don’t go through it as quickly these days since I haven’t been wearing foundation (cream or powder) anywhere near as often, but I still love it and still repuchase.
L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black
As far as I’m concerned, this is the drugstore version of my holy grail mascara (I shared similar sentiments earlier this year). At half the price (or better!) for nearly the same effect, I’m more than happy to buy it again and again. This is easily my sixth tube; it will easily stay in my rotation of repurchases.
2018 Update: See the strikethrough? Yeah. This is ol’ faithful. It isn’t even a matter of being a drugstore version – it just is.
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
What started as a purchase for the blog to resolve eye-rolling skepticism became a staple and favorite in my collection – go figure. There are so many BS products out there, and although it is not a miracle worker, my skin is happy with it.
2018 Update: I’m still an argan oil devotee, but I save buckets and buy from Mountain Rose Herbs these days. Just as good, if not better.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind
And, also, not pictured because I’m an airhead – my concealer, duh. These repurchases kicked off a no-buy for myself; and replacing my empty concealer was part of that, I just forgot to include it in the picture. If you’ve been reading for a while, you know it’s…
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer, $7
The packaging is god-awful, but the product inside is fantastic. You won’t see me using Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, that’s for sure, especially when this is a better product that is nearly a third of the price. This is the third time I’ve repurchased this product.
2018 Update: I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve purchased this concealer. I did buy more a couple months ago. Still think the applicator is atrocious, but what’s inside is liquid gold.
