MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, $22 / Jergens In Shower Sunless Tanning Lotion, $7 /
Tresemme Heat Protectant, $4 / MiroPure Straightening Brush, $40

Unsurprisingly, when I wrote the title of this post, I wrote 2017 instead of 2018. My January 2018 Favorites are short and sweet.

Get it Straight

I just shared details on the MiroPure Straightening Brush last week.

In Shower Lotion

On Monday, I talked about a lotion I didn’t like. Today, I’m sharing one that I do like. My use of any body lotion-type product tends to be sporadic at best. I hate having to wait for lotion to dry before I can get dressed. That was the key reason behind my use of the Vaseline Spray Lotion products (which I still like and use, by the way). Using an in-shower body lotion feels like skipping a step (or two). Turn off the water, lotion up, gently towel off, done.

Base-ically

I picked up this Paint Pot at a MAC Store when I was traveling last October. This is easily the best eye base I’ve used. Don’t get me wrong – I still like Urban Decay Primer Potion, but the Paint Pots offer greater opacity and adhesion. With UDPP, I was using concealer first, then primer potion. The Paint Pot allows me to take a single step.

And as a side note, the Pro Longwear Concealer also made a single step of concealing/priming, but it is a little more difficult to work with (and a single pump gives you WAY more product than you need!)

Tress Prep

Now that I use the straightening brush fairly often, I’ve needed to restock on thermal protecting spray to avoid wreaking havoc on my hair. I’ve been using this one from Tresemme for years with great results. For this price, why stray?

  1. I saw MAC Paint Pots on Hautelook months ago, and instead of grabbing a light-color one, I decided to go for the “taylor grey.” I use it all over the lid and up into the crease, but not to my browbone. I use my concealer on the browbone.

“Taylor grey” is such a fantastic base for all other “natural”-colored shadows that I use in my daily look, that I would also call it my favorite as of recent. I feel like I don’t need any other eye primer ever again. I have about 5 that i no longer bother with.

My other favorite is my rediscovery of mixing Covergirl 3in1 foundation with a Maybelline BB cream. Those two together last beyond 10 stressful hours of my workday better than any other expensive or drugstore foundation I have ever tried. I’m so mad for spending money trying to find something better. I don’t even want to use anything else unless it’s to test for a few hours and watch it all disappoint me.
