Being a blogger on a no buy is a challenging position to be in. I ought to remain at least vaguely aware of wtf is happening (ABH Subculture) and what cool beauty products are launching. ALl oh this, of course, without becoming tempted enough to make purchases.
You are cordially invited to join me in marveling at my first world problems.
Anyway, as a result of
- trying to stay at least semi-abreast of what is coming out or
- shopping for other things and seeing ads or seeing unrelated albeit interesting search results and
- occasionally tagging along with a coworker to Ulta during lunch to help her with product recommendations
–I’ve seen some cool beauty products lately! I haven’t purchased any of these items, but I wanted to share what caught my eye.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Mini
I’ve tried an Hourglass mini before, but ultimately invested in the full sized product because, well, the product is fantastic. I imagine that’s no different with the Ambient Lighting Blushes, but let’s say you’re gift shopping and have a limit of $25-30. This little one, currently only available in Mood Exposure, runs $24.
Hourglass Confession Lipstick
Staying on the Hourglass train here – their new refillable Confession lipsticks are beautifully packaged (as one would expect of any Hourglass product…). I love that you can just buy the refill bullets independent of the chic packaging, too; although I really love the design of the packaging, I personally don’t find it worth another $12 more to have the shiny gold tube.
Redken Clean Maniac Micellar Clean-Touch Shampoo
I have a well-documented obsession with micellar water so I was intrigued to see Redken’s micellar-based shampoo. The comically long name triggered my long-name exasperation/amusement too. The reviews, unfortunately, suggest it isn’t kicking ass and taking names, though.
Remington T-Studio Thermaluxe Ceramic Hair Setter
At a glance, this set of Remington hot rollers is neat-looking. After that initial glance, though I can’t help but wonder how the hell this design retains heat properly. Although I prefer roller pins to clamps the included heated clamps are an added bonus. My Conair set is still going strong, though!
Real Techniques Bold Metals Line
Real Techniques launched their Bold Metals line a while ago now with, in my opinion, ludicrous pricing. So basically, this is neat just because it is cheap. Walmart’s site has several of the Bold Metals brushes marked way down.
L’Oreal Infalliable Pro Glow Line
L’Oreal released a doe-foot applicator concealer for their Infalliable Pro Glow line. I definitely do not need any more concealer any time soon, but it was nice to see a new concealer that wasn’t gimmick-rife.
The Bottom Line
In summation, I’ve seen a handful of cool beauty products in the last month, but nothing amazing enough to convince me to buy.
