I try like hell to be consistent, but sometimes life gets in the way. I needed to prepare graphics for this post, which I intended to publish yesterday but had a hell of a migraine yesterday and the day before. So thanks for being patient, and here are my July 2015 Empties.
I’ve been wanting to do an empties post for a while, but for months I’d only have 1-2 empty items and who is writing a post about 1-2 empty things? The stars aligned this month and I actually finished up a good bit of stuff.
Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Conditioner – I wrote about this line and finished the shampoo the month prior. This condition does a great job of enhancing silkiness and shine (both with its sister shampoo and with other shampoos), but it smells very strongly of dryer sheets and does not fade quickly. If they sold travel-sized bottles of it and the shampoo I’d buy them; it’s the type of product that would be fine to use every now and then if you just wanted SUPER SHINY hair…but it isn’t something I’d repurchase full sizes of to keep in my shower.
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser – This unscented cleanser is as close as you are going to get to the clean that Philosophy Purity delivers in a drugstore price-point. I purchased this face wash on recommendation from Capitol Hill Style last year and only just finished it because I chose not to use it in the winter. I find that it leaves me a little drier than I like (drier than Purity, but not dry). Cetaphil Gentle is still my favorite. This would be my second choice if they were out of Cetaphil Gentle, and I prefer it over Cetaphil Normal/Oily (which is scented).
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Light – I’ve written about this, and the bottle isn’t totally dry yet, but it’s all-but-empty. I liked it at first, but the difference isn’t enough to warrant having both and I’d rather have the original Argan Oil from Josie. I don’t want or need two versions – so I will not be repurchasing this.
Burts Bees Citrus Scrub – My favorite face scrub, period. I’ll repurchase (again) as soon as I can freaking find it. It is discontinued, so that may or may not actually happen.
nspa Coconut Scrub – When I ran out of of last body scrub, I decided I needed something coconut and endeavored to find out. I picked this up at the drugstore for $. While it smells awesome it doesn’t really do much for me. Instead of being a sugar-or-salt-based scrub, it has little bits reminiscent of the walnut bits in St. Ives Apricot scrub. There are less of them, but they felt distinctly sharp on my arms and legs…so they didn’t exfoliate effectively and were kind of uncomfortable. Would not repurchase.
Eucerin Daily Replenishing Lotion – This is the second bottle of this body lotion gone through. It is unscented, absorbs quickly, and moisturizes my skin without leaving me greasy. It doesn’t need a novel written about it – it works.
Diorshow Mascara (Deluxe Sample) – This was a GWP, but man… for as much as people rave about this mascara it was really not impressive. I’m not sure if the full-sized tube opens this way, but this one is not threaded (so it just pops open). The bristles on the wand are approximately the size of Orange County, the formula does not work for me (too dry, but somehow also clumpy? What?) for some reason it is scented (WHY?!), and it has fibers which I do not like. I can’t bring myself to pay full price for my holy grail mascara (bareMinerals Flawless Definition, $18); there never was a snowflake’s chance in hell that I’d pay nearly $30 for a full-sized tube of this even if I liked it.
